requirements.

Design an insurance app with a “cool tech” style design. Looking for an intuitive, simple user experience targeted at people 35-60 years old. The app should be able to offer the user a different type of insurance based on the submitted information.

timeframe.

The client was very impatient due to a delay of the project before I picked it up. The UX and UI had to be delivered in a month and the development phase had to be around the same time as well.

Grow it.

Being clueless about the industry, apart from me having insurance myself, I was not familiar with business insurance. My process started with quick research then continued onto wireframing and after the journeys were agreed with the client moved on to the UI. After a few iterations, the design was handed over to the dev and we were working together to deliver.

ux.

I had little time, so the research was brief. I went on to use a few similar products, but most of them had long overwhelming forms. And I wanted to simplify the process and the layout as much as possible. Serve everything in smaller bites. After signing up, the user would go ahead and answer a series of questions about their business and insurance history. The system will then evaluate their background and propose a few insurance solutions for them to choose from.

ui.

The road to the UI was bumpy. I was given a few examples, but in the end, the client decided they wanted something a little different and more “cool tech” that preserved their brand. Therefore, the design went through a few iterations which had to be done really quickly. Constant communication with the client was essential due to the time restriction.
