Crypto exchange for TokenMarket

As part of TokenMarket I had the opportunity to take a stab at designing a crypto exchange. I will admit I was a newbie in the industry and this is how I approached this design. I wanted it to be user-friendly and a little different than any other exchange when it came to the visual.

Requirements.

The target audience for this is more newbie users and not so many heavy traders. So it had to be light and not so data-heavy as one would expect from an exchange. Before I started at TokenMarket there was already something in place, but we wanted to build on that. Introduce things like volume graphs, order history, trading history, balances, etc. And I was also tasked with the visual redesign.

Process.

I was a newbie in this industry and although I had the knowledge of what is an exchange, what is a cryptocurrency, I hadn’t really used so many exchanges. So I did my research, did some stakeholder interviews to try to understand what would a trader expect. And of course, it had to be very data-driven and I wanted a fresh, simple, light design so I had to try and balance between the two. After a few iterations, this had to go development due to business wanted this out really quickly and it is currently an MVP.
